About YUC

Youth United for Change (YUC) is an organization made up of young people acting on their own behalf to improve the quality of public education. YUC is building a youth based, democratic organization with the power to hold school officials and government accountable to meet the educational needs of Philadelphia public school students. This is done through a process of community organizing where a diverse group of youth come together, identify common concerns and act collectively on their own behalf. YUC believes that every young person deserves a quality public education that prepares him or her for success at a 4-year university, for a living wage job, and for active participation in civic life.
Characteristics and components of YUC include:
- Strengthening relationships between youth

- Ensuring youth decision-making within the organization
- Identification and definition of issues, concerns, plans and strategies
- Promoting racial harmony and cross-cultural understanding
